First of all, be sure to notice this is the top 10 of games I’ve played during 2012. Hence, this might include a game or two that actually was released earlier than that, but of which I haven’t had a chance to play until now.
|1. Persona 4: Golden
I haven’t even started playing this game. Or well, I’ve played around 2 hours. I’m still convinced this is going to be the best game I’m going to play this year. TRIAL OF THE DRAGOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!
Man, this is one stunning game. From the first time you start playing, to the first interaction with another player, to the times where you’ve mastered moving around in the sand. It’s hard not to be taken away by this charming game, and the thoughts behind it. It’s short, and leaves you with a feeling of wanting to play the game again, right away.
|3. Halo 4
This game just was fun playing. I enjoyed the ride, from start to finish, as I played through the campaign. Also; this game really sets a standard as how games should be portrayed in cutscenes. I’ve never seen such a beautiful game! And all the acting feels natural, more than ever we’ve actually seen since Half-Life 2. It also brings a fantastic multiplayer experience.
|4. The Walking Dead
I’ve never really had all that much fun with adventure games since Grim Fandango. The Walking Dead really grabbed my arm and showed that the genre might actually not be dead. The relationship between Lee and Clementine is without a doubt one of the most harsh and beautiful relationships portrayed in a game for a long time.
|5. DJ Max Technika Tune
I love music games. Preferably asian ones. This one surely didn’t disappoint me.
|6. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
I hadn’t really dwelved into the Uncharted games at all. I had heard people taking about them for a long time, always praising them as one of the best games on the Playstation 3. I chose to play through all three games in a row, and the second installment is without a doubt the best of the three. The story is the most interesting, the sceneries are the most beautiful and in the end, Uncharted 2 had way less bugs compared to the third game in the series. I guess I’m not the only one wishing for a follow-up in the end.
|7. Asura’s Wrath
THIS GAME IS AN ANIME AND IT’S WICKED AWESOME AND ABSOLUTELY OVER THE TOP AND YOU SHOULD PLAY IT EVEN IF IT HAS DLC BECAUSE MAN THE LAST MOMENTS OF THE GAME ARE ABSOLUTELY BATSHIT INSANE.
|8. Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS.
I’m a huge fan of Gundam, and if you’re too, you should probably own this game. The fast and furious arcade action that EXVS brings you is some of the best to come out of the franchise.
|9. The Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Shadow of the Colossus is a fantastic game, even 7 years after release. The HD collection proves it once more as the graphics are now crisper and smoother. I’m actually impressed that with such few additional content, this actually holds up to being one of my favorite titles of the year. I haven’t had the time to dig into ICO yet, but I hear it’s good. I’ll see, once I find the time.
|10. Lumines: Electronic Symphony
I’ve bought a Vita on release because of this game. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s still a game I come back to on regular basis, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
